The forest is the first place that hints at the coming season. Summer fires begin to settle. Layers of woodsmoke still lace the forest canopy. Everything takes on an amber tone as the sun lurks a little lower near the ridge lines, and the shadows grow a little longer. Fall is meant for the forests. It’s the season when all things that have leaves and needles peak. And with this season, we release the Hunt, our fall seasonal. This year’s HUNT is a Sumatran coffee, and we pushed the roast just a little darker, resulting in a cup of coffee that is rich, deep, and satisfying like a morning walking into the mountains, with notes of baker’s chocolate, graham cracker, and maple. It has a mild acidity that balances it’s body. Not too light, not too dark, just right. As mornings get colder, and afternoon sun fades faster, a solid cup of coffee in the fall is as valuable a companion as a your favorite pair of boots, a good hunting dog, and warm gloves on an excursion into the mountains… and also just a great way to start your day in the kitchen.
